Last Hoorah!

Our last outing with Mimi and Pop-Pop was to the Science Center.  Taylor had a great time going from exhibit to exhibit... it was like sensory overload!  We spent our time chasing her around the place.  (Literally... her favorite thing to do you'll see in the last picture!)

Today we sent Mimi and Pop-Pop back to Austin, Daddy back to work and we went back to work on our potty training!  It was a lonely, quiet (and wet) house.  I'm just not sure about the whole potty training thing!  Taylor is either very strong-willed and wills NOT to be toilet trained or I'm not very good at the whole teaching thing.  I had her stripped down this morning and she held "it" until nap time.  When I put a diaper on her for bed, she "went" and leaked out all over before I even got her down for a nap!  Any ideas?  (We've tried almost everything I can think of!)

So, I just had a conversation with another mom (who's kids are potty trained) about this situation. Elizabeth asks for a pull-up and then pees in it! I know what she's doing, so I'll ask her to go potty and she acts really scared. She'll sit on the potty on her own anytime, but not when I ask her to! This mom told me to let her pee in the diaper - she'll figure it out on her own time. I want the girl who just decides she's done with diapers on her own!! We'll see if it's in my cards! Good luck and keep me posted!!!

Okay, so I have to admit....I am one of those anonymous readers you mentioned a few posts back! :) Katelyn went through the exact same thing that you are experiencing with Taylor. She had great bladder control and I tried everything....loading her full of fluids, reading to her for extended periods of time on the potty, etc but nothing seemed to work until this fall. I put M&M's in a jar and big girl underwear on her. Anytime she "sat" on the potty, she received an M&M. If she "went" in the potty, she received 3 M&M's. It takes time and consistency. Katelyn was 3 yrs. and 4 months. I am also a firm believer that kids will do it when they are ready. Keep in mind that you don't typically see high school kids running around with diapers on so she will figure it out! :)

    Lots of Love,
    Erin
