Potty Training

The other night we were discussing when Taylor might be ready to try "going" on the big-girl potty we got her.  (She uses it once in a while but is mostly uninterested.)  I mentioned to Eric that I didn't think she could even get her pants down on her own yet - so, we asked her...

First, we got this look, like - you want me to do what?

Then she lifted her shirt... wrong article of clothing there Taylor.

Then she hiked up her pants leg and ran around the room (right article, wrong direction)

Then she tugged on her shirt (we digress)

Then she gave up and climbed on the couch...

...and had a good jump.

I think we'll wait a bit before seriously trying the potty!  She's really not interested yet anyway.

Strawberry Pickin'

This morning we went to Sweetberry Farm, located about an hour from
Austin. They had a ripe crop of strawberries ready for picking!
Taylor was very excited to pick berries and had a great time. After
the basket got too heavy for her to carry, she got bored and wanted
to go visit the animals on the farm. The donkey and the goats were a
big hit! We finished off the day with some homemade strawberry ice
cream - fresh off the farm, of course!

An Interesting Day

No pictures of our trip to the pool today because it was just Taylor & I.  We went to the pool in our neighborhood complex to "wim."  (Taylor's version of swim.)  I brought along some sidewalk chalk - a party favor from Owen's birthday - to pass the time, as well as some snacks and toys.  She took a liking to dumping water out of the pool and hot tub with her bucket and transporting the water from one to the other.  We played this game for awhile and then sat down by the hot tub (mommy wouldn't let her get in) to dangle our feet and scoop buckets of water.  She leaned in to scoop the water and got a bit over-confident with herself and ended up diving into the hot-tub!  It took me a second to realize what she did (She was practically sitting in my lap when she took the dive) and I reached in to grab her with both hands.  She was fine - wanted to keep playing - but I had my cell phone in my hand at the time and since both hands went into the hot tub... so did my cell phone!  Taylor's great... my phone didn't make it!

Wanting to do something a little less stressful, we went out of the pool area to color on the sidewalk with the chalk.  Usually, the door to the pool is able to be left open if you shut it gently - not today (which I'm glad...) but it caused us to be locked out of the pool area without keys of any kind.  Just us girls in our "wim" suits!  We had to walk down the road to a neighbor's house (whom I've never met) and ask him to please let us back in the pool.

Shortly after that - we went home!  Next time, I think I'll make Eric come too.  Maybe then it won't be such an eventful trip.

Owen's Birthday!

On Saturday, our friend Owen had his 2nd birthday party at The Little
Gym. We had an awesome time, playing on all the equipment and
pretending to be a real gymnast! I was one of the youngest kids
there but I played like a big kid! After play-time we sang "happy
birthday" (which I practiced all week long) and had cake and juice.
I ate a little cake but the biggest hit by far was my juice box. I
drank it in record time! After saying good-bye to Owen, mommy and
daddy took me to the park to work of some of the sugar. I had a
great day!

This is our friend, Owen!

Sunday Hike

We went for a family hike on Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful
day and we decided it would be best spent outside enjoying the
weather. We finished the day at the park and tried to feed the ducks
but they must have been full - not many were there and the ones that
were had no interest in food. We went down the slide and swung on
the swing before calling it a day!

Pictures from A&M/College Station

My mom and cousin Zach are in from MI to visit us (well, Taylor) and to tour the A&M campus (Zach is considering becoming an Aggie!)

We had a wonderful trip to A&M on Tuesday.  Taylor & I tagged along on the campus tour and learned some pretty interesting things about the school!  We stopped at the bookstore for some A&M gear and Taylor found this pile of teddy bears she couldn't resist!

We stayed out at the ranch (the home of some good friends of ours!)  Kent had a lovely patch of bluebonnets on the property and he was so kind to take us out so we could get some good pictures!

We also got a chance to take a dip in the "warm tub."  Taylor had so much fun and was a little too daring for my taste!  She's not afraid to get into the water and "swim."  I'm thinking that swimming lessons might be in order this summer...

Thanks Kent, Debbie, Lindsey & Dana for a wonderful visit!  We love y'all!!

Walk for March of Dimes

Taylor and I will be walking with the Bolline Boys for the March of Dimes in May.  We are looking forward to walking to raise awareness and support for something that has affected a family dear to our hearts.  We hope you'll support us with your prayers and, if you feel led, a donation.  We'll be sure to post pictures of the big event!
